  1. Hey

I just burned a DVDR and stuck it in my standalone and had an issue. The disc starts, the menu loads, and there is all kinds of video and audio "intro" footage to the menu. All of this stuff works fine, but when i hit Play Movie, the movie starts and there is absolutely no audio whatsoever (my dolby digital light even goes out on my receiver). The video plays fine, but i cannot get sound to come out of my speakers for the life of me. My question is if anyone knows how the menus and everything could have crisp, clear DTS audio, and then for there to be absolutely nothing for the actual movie. The dvd was created from a dvd image file (img) and was burned using DVD decrypter. If anyone can help me, or if you need any more info, PLEASE reply so I can hopefully get this worked out!

    Thanks!

Which tools did you use to create the image file?

  3. i didnt create the image file myself, but rather received from a friend who had set up an FTP...so basically, I dont know how the image was created. everything SHOULD work, but is there a way to "see" what is in the image file (i.e. whether or not the audio for the movie is even embedded in the file)??

    thanks for at least askin

Use DVD Shrink to open the image file, that will tell you if you have audio or not.

that's the problem with other people's images, you don't know what problems you may get

if it's an original DVD image then you are better of ripping the original yourself assuming you also have the DVD original

if it's not an original DVD then get your friend to rip his DVD again in FILE mode as it shouldn't take long as it will be DVD-5 and uncrypted

If it is original then you shouldn't be downloading his DVD but rather buying your own copy to backup if you don't already own the original

p.s. read the rules on fair use backups for this forum just in case you are not aware of them
