Open TMPGENC, and select the VCD template. Convert your file. Open Nero. Choose VCD template. Add your converted file, and burn. Et Viola.

Look to the left..'What is VCD'..and the Guides section. In particular, MPG -> VCD guides. The simplest 'newbie' way would probably be through a burn program, ie: Nero -> Create Video CD - hopefully your files are VCD compliant, so no re-encoding is needed - Nero is not the best option in that case. Also, depending on your player, you may be able to burn a normal Data type disc, and open files that way - my chepo Cyberhome CH-DVD-300S does.
[edit] Too slow I'd suggest starting with Nero, and do what the previous poster said [TMPGenc -> Nero] only if a re-encode is needed. I'll probably catch some flak from the anti-Nero people, but its worked just fine for me in most past cases.

You could try to create a VCD from your mpg with Nero, yes, (using the Video CD option) even if personal expereince with Nero and VCD aren't that good. I prefer VCDEasy to author VCD. VCDEasy is commercial these days, but there is an older free version available that's quite good.

To answer the question, do what mats said using Nero.

It would be really advisable for you to read read & read some more

The guide here is a step by step guide in converting any source to fit on 1 CD FYI
    If in doubt, Google it.

Nope. I don't think that's possible for VCD. Use CD-RW if you don't want to keep your work (but CD-R are cheap!)

  19. Hi jimmalenko & mats.hogberg,
I have viewed the coverted mpg movie in my vcd player at home. Now, the movie quality seems to be not satisfactory. It tends to have "pixel" and jerk fr time to time. What has caused this problem? Is it the CDR or how to enchance the quality? Pls adv. Thanks.

Given a perfect source, pixelation is caused by an insufficient bitrate. You might have to try splitting it over two VCDs to get the quality you desire. Given that they are downloaded clips, I'll bet that the source quality wasn't perfect to start with.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  21. Hi jimmalenko,
you are talking about pixelation is caused by an insufficient bitrate. How do we check the bitrate? BTW,I only have 1 short movie in 1 VCD, i think it is the quality of the CDR, rite? thanks. Pls adv.

The VCD bit rate has a max limit of 1150 kbps. If you use the VCD template in TMPGEnc, this is what you get. Of course you could try a higher bit rate, but since dedicated VCD players are rather picky when it comes to following standards, it might not work.
As such, VCD is a low spec standard - low bit rate, low resolution, so don't expect miracles. Bad CDR quality mostly shows as complete freezes and serious errors. You could try burning the CD at lowest speed your writer can do. Sometimes that helps.

Never done WMV to VCD (or anything else for that matter) and could only find one guide touching the subject... But you could try looking under other WVM TO ... conversion guides to get some hints.

  25. Hi mats.hogberg,
I have checked thoroughly in the Guides, but nothing relevant to be found.
Yes, someone has mentioned about converting fr wmv to VCD by using TMPGEnc only but didnt say anything about the loss of sound. Can u point me to someone who u think can solve my problem? Thanks.

Look to the left under DVD Players and see if your DVD player can play MPG files. If it can, you've saved yourself hours of encoding and burning.
