Hi. I have some problems that I have encountered. It seems when I use eMule, I don't get all the sources because I have a low-id. I have a low-id because I have a router and it's blocking something. Does anyone know how to configure my Netgear router so it can work? My Netgear is model MA101. And here is how it's connected since I have 2 computers:

Computer 1: connected to main router, Netgear receiver, Internet hub
    Computer 2: Netgear receiver, eMule

I was not the one who originally set up Netgear. Notice that I only use one internet hub for high-speed internet. The hub is directly connected to Computer 1. I also use Netgear in order for the two computers to share the internet hub. Anyway, I'm trying to find some way that I can resolve my eMule problems without interfering with the settings for the Internet?

Set up port forwarding for the ports that eMule uses. http://www.portforward.com/

The Netgear MA101 is a wireless USB adaptor. The configuration you need to do is in your Router (not your USB adaptor), though you didn't mention what make/model it is. If you have a Netgear MR814NA router like I have, I can tell you how to set it up if you like, it's very simple. I've been running eMule 24/7 for over a year now with the MR814NA with no problems at all.

Generally, you need to set up the router to forward port 4662 (TCP) and 4672 (UDP) to your PC, the one that runs eMule. Those are the default ports that eMule uses, though you can easily change it in the config settings of eMule.

However, I also found this on the Amazon website that someone posted about the USB adaptor, which doesn't sound good for using the MA101 for this purpose:

Fine for web browsing, but that's about it., November 4, 2003
Reviewer: Jason A. Ball (Brandon, FL USA) - See all my reviews

The good: It installs easily enough, and I've always had excellent signal strength with it.

The bad: If you're using Windows XP and want to do anything but browse the Internet, return this adapter immediately! It is NOT compatible with the Wireless Zero Config service in XP. Every 60 seconds, it drops the connection and reconnects in about 5 seconds. So this adapter is fairly useless for online games, streaming mp3's from another pc on the network, SSH connections, or anything else that requires constant connections. Like eMule...
The ugly: It seems as if NetGear has completely abandoned this product! The software download page makes you guess which driver is the right one, and it hasn't been updated in forever... Maybe there's just not a way to fix it...

My verdict: If you just want to browse the web, and you can pick one up cheap, go for it. But with Linksys adapters selling for the same price, I can't see why you would.

All of the above, and check the official emule site. Go to 'Help and Support' for help in configuring routers. http://www.emule-project.net/

I have Windows 2000. The GearBox is MR814v2. Is there a step-by-step guide anywhere? I am afraid I might mess up and my Internet connection setup will be messed up too. Not sure if I should be doing this since I don't know what I'm messing around with.

Read through this thread from a few months ago, where I posted the screenshots of the MR814v2 router configuration:

If you have any questions beyond these setup instructions, just ask.

Fine, just skip my post, I see how it is. Anyways, there are step by step directions in the link I posted earlier... http://portforward.com/netgear/mr814-portforwarding.htm

I know I'm dumb but I set the router configuration on the computer with the gearbox hooked up to it right? Not the wireless adapter? For now, I'm following the guide at PostForward.com. So I create the static IP address on the main computer and whatnot. After all that, must I need to change anything on my computer which has eMule? Also, will setting this ruin my Internet settings? I do have a weird connection setting...

It shouldn't ruin anything. Just make sure you are using the eMule ports that you forwarded.

Note: Many ISPs throttle the default eMule ports (TCP and UDP), maybe you should change them if you see bad speeds.
