Using DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink to Backup Any DVD by steptoe

Am I doing something wrong? Or did Steptoe forget to mention the 4 hour encoding process? I followed the guide step by step.. First Decrypter was used to rip, then shrink to backup....Shrink loads up the movie files extremely quick. I set everything to "automatic" compression. After about 2 hours elapsed and Dvd Shrink completed analysing/transcoding, I'm not sure the lingo. I was counting down to completion with lots elation thinking it's time for burning, but then it goes into this "encoding" process that is excruciatingly slow, as I write, the countdown is at 3 and half hours to go. Is this process necessary? Am I doing something wrong? Please advise.

It`s about right, depending on your computer speed. I usally set it up before i go to bed then that way it doesn`t seem that duantingly long

Without knowing your computer specs, it is very hard to give you an honest answer. I know with my machine, the DVDShrink process takes anywhere up to about an hour if I do Deep Analysis and have the AEC options checked. You could try unchecking the AEC options and only do Deep Analysis if compression is less than 85% and still get excellent results IMO in much less time.
    If in doubt, Google it.
