Coalman did some screen grabs from a recording rate that would allow 19 hours of video on one DVD. He also links to the video:

I have to give DVD the edge on durability. I dropped a VHS copy of "Nuremberg" from a high shelf and the case cracked - it was toast. If you drop a DVD from a similar height, it most likely wouldn't even notice. I replaced Nuremberg with a DVD copy.

However, I'm not convinced DVD's more compact size is an advantage. It's nearly impossible to lose a VHS tape, even in my apartment. I've lost DVDs and CDs going from my computer to my storage cabinet

My main headache, of course, is that all my old VHS cabinets are obsolete. They were made for the size of a VHS tape, and even hold my Betamax quite comfortably. However, a DVD in a snap case is wider than a VHS tape and they won't fit! Jewel Cases are not much better.

I just wish I had one of those $10,000 dollar cams. Imagine the quality of a 9000 CBR vid. That particular one was shot with an old Sony D8.
