Oh goody. Another realist. TK? Get the canvas ready...

Just kidding. We are guessing. For starters, the LA Times reported the story, so we're not dealing with the most accurate source here...

    > All I saw was circumstantial evidence. I never saw an eyewitness, never heard a confession, and saw one of the biggest lying bigots wearing a badge ever paraded in front of a judge get caught in a whopper.

If an eyewitness was required for a murder conviction then Ted Bundy (and many other serial murders) would still be free. On the other hand, based on "all you saw" you're legally blind.

    > Never charged him with perjury either, did they?

Yes they did, but apparently it's just one of many things you missed.

I grew up in L.A. and I remember reading numerous stories where LAPD and the sheriff department would go on counterfeit sweeps at the swap meets(flea market),there's no doubt in my mind there's favortism going on here. With a misdemeanor charge on her record she will still be able to keep her job and her pension.
I respect police officers and the dangerous job they perform but nobody is above the law.

You're right, I did miss the perjury plea, and the ensuing three years probation. And as for being legally blind, isn't that justice is supposed to be, or does that statue have a peep hole cut in its blindfold?, ibid.:

I'm somewhat uncomfortable with the justice system where the judge calls the courtroom "his". I don't like when there are special sentencing guidelines (and treatment) that apply to suspended police captains. I don't like when a murderer walks despite blood evidence and there are people on death row convicted and sentenced based on a single witness's testimony. I don't like when because of the accused's celebrity status courts are suddenly becoming impotent, evidence suspicious and statements irrelevant. I don't like when the same law instruments do opposing things based on who applies them or who they are being applied to.
Thanks to the power of TV we have less and less morons proclaiming the superiority of American justice system. Finally people can see for themselves what bullshit juries are capable of lead by a skilled speaker.
As to Fuhrman, damn good cup and witness that became a liability because of political correctness.

You were on a roll until you got to Furman. Hate to have him as a cop, knowing how he thinks and knows he is capable of lying on the witness stand.

Don't sidestep the issue and just analyze how his "N" word lies apply to the core and the matter of the case. Don't want to get into this in depth but striking someone's testimony because they lied in a side issue essentially immaterial to the facts of the case under consideration would make NO ONE ever qualify as a good witness. The notion that If you have ever lied in your life (haven't anyone?) makes you unfit as a witness. What a bullshit that is recognized for what it is everywhere but not in USA justice practices. A great way to discredit anyone (God probably included). Ever lied to your parents? Then you must be a pathological liar and a crook (not personal, just an expression). Only in America.

I think you really need to understand how the system works: Testimony from known liars should not and do not convict people, thank God.

You still miss the point... Just think about it. Ever lied in public (i.e. 2 ppl ) ? Then you are a "known" liar. How about Bush? Fuhrman pales in comparison, Bush lied to The Whole Earth. Could he be a "reliable" witness? I bet he could. Why? See my first post.

I have, lots of times. I think about how peace officers' testimonies send innocent people to jail, along with the guilty ones. I think about about the innocent people put to death by the testimony of such peolpe.

There was no reason for Furman to lie, he decided to do so anyway. I think he is not the only policeman who can put his hand on a Bible, and tell untruths just to send people he believes are guilty to jail.

Oh yes, I do think about it, and it makes sad.

Wow.... did da' Man give you a parking ticket lately?

Furman did wrong, but every institution has a Furman. The Government, the Church, the Military, etc. The bottom line on OJ was, he had motive. If OJ did'nt do it, then who did? The garbage man? The family of both victims knew he did it. The majority of the public knew he did it. The police knew he did it. People still to this day, shun OJ where ever he goes because the know he did it.

The defense turned the trial into a 3 ring race circus, & marked Furman as their stool pigeon. "Fatal Brady" would dismiss his testimony, & the defense new it.

But anyways.... back to the LAPD Capt. She was in the wrong & she should be punished. But I don't think she should be punished anymore than the thousands & thousands of people who are caught with crack only to be sent to drug diversion classes, or the burglars who are caught 5 times in a row & put on SIS, or the car thieves who steal dozens of cars & receive "joy riding" tickets.

    Just my 2 cents.... Boda

No, actually, "Da Man" as you put it, just gave me a tour of his armoury, asked me if I wanted to handle any of his grenade launchers, etc. However, these policemen hold themselves to the same standards I keep, and would let OJ "walk" if it meant telling a lie to put him in jail.

I believe as you do, that not only is their a "Furman" in every police department, I also believe there are probably a huge percentage of them in every precinct.

Now as for if OJ didn't do it, who did is one of the sickest argument I ever heard of for putting a man in the System. I just pray I never am wrongfully accused for a crime and get you on my jury. Because if the police don't find the true perpetrator, you'll send me to "the chair" because you don't know who did the crime. I'm in the Military you feel is so rife with the corruption you see in your town. I'm here to tell you your eyes are so much better than mine, as I see very little of it, and if it rears its ugly head, it gets chopped off at the shoulders by people just like me.
