Hi
I want to change height & weight of my movie plus cutting the black edges. with VirtualDubMod 1.5.1 it takes a few hours to do that. is there any other software that does it faster?

Check out frameserving - it could speed things
up for you depending on your source media and
what you want to export.
As you did not elaborate on media source to
export source I can't say for sure. -
Hi
my movie is in XviD, and i want to save it as XviD without losing any quality. I just want to remove the black edges and maybe change the height/weight of the movie.
what's is frameserving? where is it and what does it do? -

What is the purpose of re-encoding the movie. Why do you want to remove borders / resize? -
Hi you all, thanks for responding
When I ripped this movie from DVD, i didn't change the resolution
so now the picture is squeezed! and impossible to watch before changing the aspect ratio using FFDshow filter. so now i want to remove the black borders and change the resolution to something like 640x300. (the picture now is 720x480 include black edges)
and Tommyknocket, thanks for the link but I think that'll take more time, and still TMPGEnc changes the avi to mpg. -
The video from the DVD is stil in it's anamorphic format. Perhaps a media player with the capability to alter the aspect ratio during playback?
I have used the DivX player with AVI files and it allows you to select an aspect ratio. Perhaps this is all you need. The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
To get rid of the borders (and avoid re-encoding) why not use the NULL TRANSFORM filter in VirtualDub?
This will allowing the CROPPING button to become active (so you can crop out the nasty balck bars etc) and let you do a DIRECT STEAM COPY (for both video and audio) thus creating a new file (less the borders) without re-encoding....just save the AVI under a new name...it wont sort out the AR though.
Also I find ZOOMPLAYER invaluable for playing avi's (especially to correct encoding AR problems). -
I'm using ViPlay which can change the aspect ratio and the resulotion, also with FFdshow i can do that, no problem there.
Null Transorm does it, ok, but then I have to re-encode the video which makes the video size bigger, or if not, makes it with a less quality.
But how do I get rid of the black edges in the movie without losing quality?
that's the whole question!. -
My mistake, you are indeed correct, you need to use FP mode to use the cropping function in VD.

Open the file with VirtualDUB and check in File Information about the codec and the average bitrate. Apply the crop filter and then save using the same codec and the same average bitrate as well as frequency of key frames.
Since you will be cropping the letterbox black borders, you will be reducing the frame size and the bitrate requirements, which means your new file will have a better chance to encode at the same quality and the same bitrate as before. The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know. -
Hey SaSi,
that's a really interesting way. part of my problem was that I didn't know what bitrate i used before. THanks alottt, that'll help alot
let's just see what results do I get
