I just picked up Madden 2005 and Splinter Cell 2 on Ebay.

I have copied all of my PS2 games with no problems-many more than once because I'm not that careful with the back-ups.

These two games will not back-up. I have tried creating an image with Disc Juggler and DVD Decryptor.

I burned both images with Nero 5 and Disc Juggler. I have also tried burning on the fly (a disc to disc copy) with both DJ and Nero. Nothing works!

I am using a Messiah chipped NTSC PS2. The disc just "reads" for 10 minutes and then goes to the red screen of death.

Is this some new form of protection? Has anybody backed these games up? If so, what method/software did you use.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm stuck.

    Thanks.

Pick up A-Ray Scanner 2.0.0 (not the newest version, the developer still has a little bit of work to do.) Some protections need higher end burners to be backed up.

Thanks for the tips guys. I will check them out. But I'm taking a break for now. I'm little burned out with these games. I will try later and let you know how it works out.

    Thanks

    Quick update:

I tried the A-Ray scanner. As far as I can tell, It's only for CDs. It "found" the same copy protection on every disc I put in the DVD Rom- including ones that were not protected.

I tried a trial of Alcohol 120 and Clone CD. They wrote images to my hard drive with no problem, but when I tied to write the image to DVD they would instantly (within 2 seconds) spit the disc out. The task log would contain gibberish. I got the message: "Invalid field in parameter list ." I have no idea what that means.

Clone CD kept reporting that the memory was too small. Unlike Alcohol there didn't seem to be any options to increase it. At any rate, it was asking for a ridiculous buffer.

I tried every setting imaginable, and neither program would load it's own image file! I guess the programs don't like my burner. It's old (1x) and Alcohol reported it as not being able to burn RAW data. Whatever.

I "upgraded" my burner last year at Staples. The piece of shit drive lasted four months, so I am stuck with the 1x until the dual layer media becomes reasonbly priced and I upgrade to DL. I don't use it enough to care about the low speed anyway.

Anyway, just for the hell of it, I wrote an image with DVD Decryptor and burned it with DVD Decryptor. To my amazement, it worked!! The FMV skipped a little. Probably the media. But when I burned the next copy I used the Alcohol image and it works perfectly! Ditto for the other game.

I still don't understand what the problem was, but all's well that ends well I guess.

Are you positive you got version A-Ray Scanner 2.0.0.0? If you got 2.0.0.1 you will get a few random errors, the developer still has a bit of work to do. Check out Game Copy World to see what protection the games have, then use the Alcohol 120% profile. Good luck. 8)

Do you have the collectors edition or regular edition of madden the collectors edition id a DVD-9 disk and not a DVD-5 and you cant copy it without removing stuff (havent done this and cant tell you how to do this for madden)

if might just be the media that you are using or your disks might be dirty or scratched

My regular version of madden backed up just fine for me
