    A friend replaced his ATI All IN Wonder 8500DV card with a new 9600. He has given me his old card. I have installed it and it works. It has Display Driver version 7.72 & MMC version 7.7. Now, my question is: His new software has Display Driver version 7.97 & MMC version 8.8. Can I use his software disk & install it with the 8500 card using the new driver & MMC or must I keep the old driver & just update the MMC from 7.7 to 8.8.

    Use neither.

    Go to www.ati.com and get the newest versions of both the drivers and the MMC (9.1 last I saw).
