just render to mpeg1 and register vegas mpeg plug in with sony on-line or by phone ==

it is included with vegas -- you just have to activate it (no additional cost)

it is covered in your manual ..

i can have sony people contact you if you need help - as i know many of them very well ..

if you are referring as how to use vcdimager, just download the vcdimager gui (click on the vcdimager gui 0.6 link at the top:
    https://www.videohelp.com/vcdimagergui.htm
and extract it to the same folder. Then how to use vcdimager gui:
Import your mpeg files into vcdimager and set the bin output file. All this will do is change your mpegs into dat files (not true mpegs) and add a few other files so that your dvd player will recognize them. This is stored in a .bin file. Now download isobuster. The open the .bin file in isobuster.
Extract all those folders to a directory. Then open up whatever burning software you have and select "make a data cd". Then drag all those folders (and only those folders) onto the cd and burn. That's it. What you pay for in commercial software is to automate that process so people don't have to spend the time and energy, plus you can make menus. I am happy to help with any other problems.
Any other questions, just ask me.

  8. Indeed there is such a thing as a true avi, its data in avi container. WMV is not avi and won't work on homeboys player.

..'scuse me for butting in again, but have you read any of the numerous guides on the subject of AVI to (S)VCD found left? If not, I can assure you, it's time well spent, instead of asking a new question for each step (and each software) required to accomplish the task, and waiting for someone to supply an answer.

.tar is a filetype that winzip can't handle. Download WinRar, this will open it. The link is here:

Just make sure to extract vcdimager and vcdimager gui to the same folder.

You can, or let your system make up the first one, but manually change the second programs destination to match the first.

And I just used easy vcd to make some back ups of some movies, and it did the same message on the screen, it said no audio, and on the dvd's lcd it displayed the number 0. Any clue how to get any of these two to work one and for all.

Oh when I was burning the files, it gave me a pop up box saying "The cd you are creating includes a data track with 0 files and 6 directories. Do you want to continue". I have burned twice and none of the times did it work, need some assistance over here.

Jorge, after you get the files conveted to VCD or SVCD, go here
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/rogergray1964. There will be a folder named Jorge. Click on it and you can download VCDImagerGUI as a regular zip file from there. It already contains VCDImager so you won't need a separate version of it. That program will create a cue & bin file that you can burn with nero or other burner.
    Hope this helps.

    Have fun stormin' the castle!

Ok I activated my vegas 4.0. So what do I do with the video after its done rendering. I burned it but it gave me the no audio message and it said 0 on the lcd of the dvd player. Does something need to be done before burning it.

Im baffled, never had so much trouble with a program. Could it be that I need to do something after I render it??? Or could it be that my burner doesnt work for this sort of thing, Im using adaptec easy cd creater 4 by the way.

Okay that's my bad.... didn't share the file...It's there now. In Vegas is there an SVCD Template?! That's the one you would want to use. Do you have any other encoders to try?

Yeah there is an svcd template. I really dont have any other encoders. I was trying to get this done using avi 2 vcd. But a member here said that all of it can be done using vegas 4.0.

Well AVI 2 VCD will also work. It's real simple but kinda slow. You could also try avi 2 mpg2 or Tmpgenc which has free mpeg2 for 30 days and free mpeg 1 encoding. AVIDemux will also work but will require muxing the file back. But any of the encoders should work fine. Once you get a file encoded, you can use VCDImagerGUI or VCDEasy to author it to a cue/bin file then burn it with Nero or Burnatonce. My advice is to try burning just 1 file to a VCD (Maybe on a CD-RW to save on CD's) then when you get used to it go ahead and burn all the files. Burning VCD/SVCD/DVD is not rocket science, but it can be tricky, however, once you get used to it, you can burn stuff in your sleep.

    Hope this helps.
