  1. Hi. I hope this is the right place to post my question.

I have a CDR disc which I thought it was a VCD and I could play in my DVD player ( I have Panasonic s35). Well, I couldn't. I tried Power DVD, but I still couldn't (the message said it cannot support this kind of format). I tried Windows media player, I finally could play it. I checked the disc and it contains .DAT. I'm assuming it's a data file. I think I need to convert this file, so I can play it in my DVD player. I don't even know where to start
    Could someone please help me?
    Thank you.

If you use Windows Explorer to umm, explore the disc, does the disc have the following structure:

    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. If it turns out that it hasn't been authored as a VideoCD (which is what jimmalenko is asking you to check) then you can do this. Use VCDGear to convert the .DAT to .MPG (this only takes a few minutes) then re-author with VCDEasy.

The other thing I thought of is that in the past, I have managed to load DAT files straight into VirtualDubMod on occasion. You could then frameserve to your favorite encoder from here.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  5. There were no folders on the disc. Just one file. I don't know if it's a VCD or not.
I tried what was suggested. I used VCD gear to convert DAT file to MPG. Then, burn the file with Sonic MyDVD instead of VCDEasy since I already had Sonic installed.
    Well, it worked

    You guys are GREAT!!
Thank you very much for your help!!
