What's the difference between pal and ntsc. Which would be better for watching on a regular size tv? I'm a little confused about sizing. What size should I use if I plan on watching it on a tv? What size is a tv?

Just so no one is confused 23.976 is Film and is progressive and is no interlaced.
NTSC is 29.97 and is interlaced.
Pal is 25 and is also not interlaced.

  10. PAL looks much better than NTSC.

A PAL picture has sharpness while NTSC looks blurred.

  11. Pal looks better but it is not made for US TVs if you play it on our US TV you will have black lines on the side sooo i suggest you use NTSC for the US TVs

  12. PAL and NTSC also have a different colour system. If you have a PAL TV that supports 30fps, but not NTSC, you will get a black and white image if you put an NTSC source into it. Plus you can can tell when a program has been converted to PAL from NTSC on tv when you watch say Friends in the UK, the picture isnt as sharp and the the colour slightly off.

  13. The difference between PAL and NTSC:
    - PAL: 625 lines 25fps interlaced (50Hz) colour carrier of 4.43MHz
    - NTSC: 525 lines 30fps interlaced (60Hz) colour carrier of 3.38MHz
PAL-60 is actualy a hybrid system because it's NTSC with the PAL colour frequency of 4.43MHZ.
I had to buy a multistandard TV when I came from Canada to be able to watch the movies I recorded there here in Portugal. Canada's system is NTSC and here it is PAL. I also had to buy a pal vcr because the vcr our canadian vcr didn't work here either. I hope this helped you understand the main differences.
