To the students in the audience...hows the new semester? Mine schedule is awful but I like the people in it so I guess its not that bad. I'm taking:

    Embryology
    Human physiology (w/ lab)
    Organich Chem (w/out lab)
    Regular chem lab
    Math
    Psychology and religion

I thought it would be cool to see what everyone else is doing.

Im not sure, I start tomorrow afternoon. I took a few years off and screwed my life up a bit so I'm..getting a late start at 22. I'm taking a math course and intro to journalism. Pre-Algebra just to get it out of the way (for some reason, everything in high school stuck..but this), and Intro to Journalism to see if that is the degree I want to go for. Should be interesting though...

Try starting at 30. You are not getting a late start.

Although, I sit on the other side of the big desk....

    My classes are fine.

    2 - Geometry
    2 - Integrated 1 ( Int. 1 & 2, are basically algebra 1 over 2 years)
    2 - Algebra 2

All good classes, but then again the year is early. I know some of you may find this hard to believe but early in the year I'm a hardass, super strict. But I only have 2 kids who are delinquents and they are in seperate classes.

12 new teachers this year...and not a single hot one that's bullshit!!! They need to put me in charge of the hiring process...

But don't let my 300 minutes of work a day fool you...oh wait... ...never mind, I guess I've been posting more on here during the day haven't I?....Ahhhh, the beauty of worksheets

You only work 5 hours a day.

That is a nice cushy schedule.

Actually I work less than that.

Take into consideration that 300 minutes is 50 minutes per period for 6 periods. Now inside those periods I almost always give the last 15 minutes of class for the students to get started on their homework. If you consider that I have to take double attendance everyday....because our IT guy is the most computer illiterate SOB you have ever met....our school email for example....first he can't keep it running...then you have our email addresses...last name + first and middle initial....now how many people do you work with that you know their middle initial? Exactly, not exactly condusive to a productive work environment. Double attendance takes about 5 minutes.

So I actually only "work" about 30 minutes per class period...but for that 180 minutes I bust my ass

On a side note, in addition to finding enjoyment here at videohelp.com another source of enjoyment I get at work is messing with the IT guy. My computer use to be a G3...so I started using my own laptop. I go to him all the time with computer questions. Did you know if you are having trouble playing a Powerpoint document, the problem is probably your video card? Or my personal favorite..."you shouldn't need anymore than 32 MB of RAM to do anything on your computer."

    He's a ******* idiot. But he did get me a 25 ft S-video cable!

    !
Could ask him if that's enough to run doom 3, I was wondering.

Does it work the same way there as it does here where half the school employess are either related too or friends with the administration. I even heard rumors of teachers buying there jobs around here and that was from some pretty reliable people.

  18. Got a mix this semester of classes:

    1) Business Law:

Good class discussing mostly the civil side of law and how it relates to business.

    2) eCommerce Infrastructure Management:

Alright class that teaches a technical overview of the things that need to be taken into account when managing a network.

    3) Interactive Media:

Elective class I chose because I had some spare electives to use up before doing my finance major. Very artsy fartsy, alternate world compared to the normal business faculty environment I normally am in.

Learning to use Director MX which wouldn't be hard except for the fact you have to do all the work on macs.

    4) Financial Management:

Deals with basic financial information before delving into the bond and share market.

By far the most boring class I'm taking this semester. I should start going to the lectures more because I botched the mid-semester exam.

I don't know...his parents may be brothers...I'll have to check on that...

When he told me that about the RAM I just looked at him and shook my head. It is truely amazing...but no different than tech support, he just looks stuff up in a book. Guess what happens if you have system problems that he can't figure out...yep, you know it....reformat and reinstall. He had a coniption (CUN - ip - shun) when using that G3 I set my page file to 3x the amount of physical RAM.

He is an idiot, but he is a source of entertainment.

    <wipes tear from eye>

Linear Algebra - amazing that is college course work isn't it?

Calculus - Ah the good ol' days....just me and Suzie (my calculator) running through the wide open coordinate plane, getting some TAN and finding slopes, stopping occasionally to figure volumes of revolution, we walked together even though she could derive ....it was a changing time.

Derive....Derivative...rate of change ....ya get it? ok, my bad

Ya, I'm lucky that I've already had a general embryo course, so now I just have to learn the extra details that this grad course requires. I recommend a good book - I use Human Embryology by William Larsen, but it's a bit thick for a general embryo class (500 pgs or so).

I used to complain about bad teachers in undergrad, and I would inevitably do worse in that class. I tried the same complaint in Med School and someone told me to stop making excuses and learn on my own. I found I liked it, and now only go to about 30% or so of the lectures. I have to go to my forensics class though - it's just too cool.

I'll check that out. I've learnt to teach myself shit and it works. I still go to as many lectures that I can but I just sit there and listen...dont really take many notes. I've found that I understand better that way. As for embryology...I HAVE to take notes in that class because she doesnt test over the book..it's all over the notes she provides. Thanks for the suggestion.
