Bollocks to that, yeah the money rivalled that of Mr Trumps but even if I wanted to shag the missus I would have to do the beans in a minute and a half, no chance (I wish).

I am now unemployed, got a few interviews tomorrow, sensibly stupid wedge next door to Fenchurch Street station (where I go into) and there 9 to 5.

I might be quitting my job soon. I'm actually looking to switch. I've applied for a couple of places in the IT and HELP DESK areas. I've only got one interview set up at the moment, but not bad considering I only applied last Thurs. As soon as I get a good snag, I'm flipping my 2 week notice to the Branch Manager. They don't have a clue. :P

Is it a tax write off for those who commute, long distance, to work in the UK? I can't remember what the distance is for sure, but I think if you live further than 10 miles from your workplace your commute is tax deductible.

Nope, not true. Your regular journey to work and back is not tax deductible. If your employer requires you to make further journeys in your own car, that is tax deductible, but if your journey starts from home, you have to deduct the distance from home to work from the distance travelled before you can claim.

My week is 45-60 hours (occasionally more), salaried (so no overtime). Commute is 35-45mins each way.

In the US I was pretty sure there was something new that was passed to allow it as a deductibility if you live more than a certain distance from where you worked. I thought it was passed alongside with those who have to travel for job interviews, as the distance traveled for that was also deductible. Maybe it was tax exemption of funds by an employer for parking and driving to work. I can't remember. I haven't had to travel more than 5 miles to anywhere I've worked, and I've never had to travel much for job interviews for pretty much the same reason. Heck, my company paid for my move from NY to NV, so as far as tax write offs for traveling, I haven't the strongest clue. Never needed to do it.

The 48 hr week rule was something you had to sign up for wasn't it ? Doesn't bother me I attend for about 35hrs and work about 5-10 hrs a week.

Hey now wait just a god da...m....n.....minute....oh, yea....the worksheets...I forgot....my fault, yep, guilty as charged.

Don't forget the days off I get during the year...president's day, MLK day, 3 days for thanksgiving, 2 weeks for christmas, 1 week for spring break, 3 days for easter...and then June July and August. Plus 3 personal days, 3 professional days and 1.5 sick days per month (which I have built up to 104)...I catch the dreaded "golf flu" right around spring time

Let's just say Northcat is not working himself into an early grave out here.

Right now, I'm partial to 7:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. I can take days off at my leisure, but I very rarely do. I probably make more than northcat does, too.

I can lurk at Videohelp off and on all day with a T1 pipe, I get 24 8-hour vacation days off (192 hours), 7 holidays, the time between Christmas Eve and the day after New Year's off, up to 2 hours a day for personal business (as needed for haircuts, Dr. appt.), I telecommute Mondays and Fridays.

And this week I'm bitching because I have to come in to the office two days this week instead of 1 day like last week when I took Wed. & Thurs. off in addition to my regular days off.

But I think Northcat has me beat in sheer time away from the workplace every year
