Hi,
Ive burnt a couple of dvd's with the help of you lot
on some of the dvds when i watch them and the original file on my pc (downloaded dvd-r's avi's etc) Ive noticed the sound is slightly out of sync with the image.
only half a second if that. Its prob just me being picky but is it possible to change the audio file on the avi etc nd delay it slightly or advance it?
is this even possible ?

If it is a DVD then yes the sound can be delayed/advanced. I don't know about AVIs.
One way to do it is to demux the film (VOBEdit for e.g. but there are others).
Then you re-author the film using IFOEdit (look for the Authoring guide(s) using IFOEdit). When you re-mux the video-audio-subtitles files IFOEdit allows you to type in a delay for the audio and/or the subtitles.
If your DVD has menus etc. it doesn't mean you'll necessarily loose them as you can re-author only the film and then use the other original VOB and IFO files (VIDEO_TS.IFO for e.g.) to overwrite the ones created by IFOEdit.
There is a IFOEdit guide for this as well. It is meant for people who want to add a new subtitle or replace and existing one but still keep the DVD menus.
Maybe there are other (simpler) ways and if there are I'm sure you'll get more answers.
Oh, and in my opinion you HAVE to sort out the delay even if it's a tenth of a second. Otherwise it will only keep annoying you...It wasn't me.
