  1. I am having a problem converting a avi to mpeg using ffmpeg (think thats the program name i think its spelled wrong.) The avi file is only 150 megs. When I use the presets for the vcd option it converts it up to a 700 meg. file. Any suggestions on what is going on would be greatly appreciated.

  2. How long is you avi file? In minutes.

  3. It is two files both 40 min. long

  4. A CD-R can hold 700mb or 80min. So if you encoded 2 40min videos you would have 80min or 700MB. Sounds like it did it correctly.

  5. yeah but i am converting them seperalty so the one 40 min file which is only like 120-150 megabytes is coming out to around 600 plus megabytes so im not sure what is going on.

  6. Make sure your bitrate is set correctly. Looks like you can go around 1080 kb/s to fit both files on a single 700 MB vcd.

  7. ok i will try that thank you very much for your time helping me

If you choose the VCD preset, you'll notice the bitrate is set to 1150 kbit/s. The VCD standard requires this bitrate, better leave it at that.
