ok so i demuxed a vob file into an m2v and ac3 files, the ac3 file lasts 1 hour and 35 minutes like it should but for some reason whatever i play the m2v file in it says it only last 1 hour and 10 minutes, then when it comes to the end of the 1 hour and 10 minutes and the progress bar reaches the end it carries on playing till 1 hour and 35 minutes. this is causing me serious problems re-authoring!

anyone know know an dhow i can remedy this?

    thanks for reading!

    Hello,

What are you doing with it? If you want to just make a new dvd you can use tmpgenc dvd author or another program that accepts vob files directly (no demuxing needed).

---You could always delete the .m2v and .ac3 files and resplit them _ of course, assuming you didn't delete the original vob---
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

the problem i have originally is that this is a dvd that was recorded using my phillips stand alone dvd recorder. when i used dvd decrypter to rip it, i did try and use tmpgenc dvd author but it said it didn't recognise the files and that it wasn't an mpeg 2 (i have no idea why) - so i decided to demux and try again. i'm basically just wanting acertain section of what i recorded.

    Hello,

You could use dvd shrink and go into the reauthor mode. In there, (can't remember where right now) you can select which chapters to rip and/or how much of the whole movie. Then you'll have just the vobs you'll need. That might help.

  6. I had this same problem, it was caused by the layer break information in the M2V. Solution: when demuxing with VOBedit, check the option "split on new VOB ID" - this will give you 2 M2V files split at that point which you can then use to author.
OR, using DVDdecrypter, in IFO mode (and stream processing enabled with all the video files checked to 'demux'): go into the settings for IFO and under file splitting choose "layer break". This is the best method IMO.

DVDShrinking a DVD without compression is a fast and reliable way of fixing bad authoring or bad ripping.

Once you have the .m2v files and identify this problem, another option (more straightforward) is to use Resetream and select to fix broken GOPs and reset time stamps.

BTW, these standalone DVD Recorders seem to create a hell of a lot of problems when further processing the video.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
