Hi,
Can anybody help me out as to how I should upgrade the firmware for my Pioneer 108 dvd writer to 1.10. The current firmware is 1.04.
I am using a external usb casing for my dvd drvie connected to my laptop.
I have the firmware with me, but i am not sure about how to apply it.
Thanx in advance for your replies.

Hi. Dun4cheap,
Will this work on my drive which is connected externally via usb enclosure ? -
I would just take the easy way and remove the burner from the usb case and plug it in the tower update it and then just put it back in the usb case pretty simple and less chance of screw ups
-
It should work. My 2 external boxes are combo, but I have only tried updating the fw via firewire.

Anybody else has tried applying firmware to their 108 in usb enclosure..??
Just need to be sure..... otherwise i would have to wash my hands off my first dvd writer...
Replies appreciated. -
Hi.
Latest update,,,
Upgraded the firmware of my 108 drive to 1.10 using the windows upload tool given by pioneer. ( Drive was connected via usb in external casing ). The update was succesfull.
Later on updated Nil's firmware 16x4 using DVRflash ,, and that also was successfull.
The drive is working fine, with not a single coaster till now from the day i bought it.
Now waiting for somebody to comeout with a hacked version for DVD+R so that i can burn that also at 16x.
Thanx to everybody who replied. -
did u use the dvrflash with your USB enclosure. i sort of have the same problem. i tried installing the firmware from pioneer's site, but it don't work with the external case. i have a firewire connection enclosure...

use the dvrflasher to flash your drive with the pioneer FW... It worked for me

Hi. Sector001.
I tried using both - the dvrflasher 2.0 ( pre win release ) as well as the pioneer windows update utility . And both of them worked smoothly.
But as dun4cheap said, it has worked with his fireware enclosure, so it should probably work with ur enclosure also.
What error do you get when u flash it ? -
this is the error message that i get when i try to flash it with the firewire enclosure.
DVRFlash V2.0: Pioneer DVR firmware flasher
by Agent Smith et al., July 2004
Commandline:
E:\Programs\DVRFlash\DVRflash.exe
Device parameter was not given, detecting all DVR drives:
Device : 0.0.0
Vendor : PIONEER
Model : DVD-RW DVR-103
Revision : 2.00
Device : 1.0.0
Vendor : PIONEER
Model : DVD-RW DVR-108
Revision : 1.10
Now Run DVRFlash again, from the command prompt, using one of the device(s) listed above as first parameter
Press the return key to exit -
You need to run the program from a commamd prompt. On XP goto the start-run type in cmd; this will bring up a dos box, change directory to the directory with the flashing program and the new firmware. Type a command like: DVRFlash -v I: R7100107.116
The I stands for the drive letter then then firmware is after the colon, make sure the new firmware is in the same folder.
It this is against AUP. Please remove..
