I have a bunch of Anime on my hdd that I want to put on DVD so I can free up hdd space. So far there hasn't been any problems for me converting 16:9 avi to 16:9 DVD but whenever I try to convert 4:3 avi to 4:3 DVD I can't get the picture to fit perfectly on my TV screen. The width (640) is okay and the height (480) is the problem I'm having. For some reason I can't get the height to be centered, the bottom part always gets cut off. When I adjust the height to 400 I get the bottom to fit but the top ends up with alot of room. Does anyone know how to adjust the height centering in TMPGenc?

Btw these are the settings I use for 4:3:

The original avi file as shown in GSpot: 640x480 (1.33:1) = [4:3]

Project Wizard -> DVD -> NTSC

    Video Type: Non-Interlace
Aspect Ratio: 4:3 525 line (NTSC)

Other Settings -> Advanced -> Video arrange method -> Center (custom size) -> 640x480

I tried other settings like Center(keep aspect ratio), Full Screen, Full Screen(keep aspect ratio), Full Screen(keep aspect ratio 2) and all those don't work either. This problem with 4:3 conversion has plagued me for a long time already. I hope someone can assist me in solving this problem.

4:3 for DVD is a flag.
The res must be a compliant res:

    720x480
    704x480
    352x480
    352x240 not suggested, is deinterlaced

Are you saying if I set my custom size to 720x480 the picture will fit when I convert it to DVD?

Okay, just done reading. That page explains the different resolutions associated with different forms of media and sources, but explains nothing about the TMPGenc problem I'm having. With understanding of AR in mind I'm still unable to get the vertical center to fit on my 20' tv. Even with the understanding of AR the problem is lying with TMPGenc not weather I undertstand AR or SAR.
