  1. Hi,

I got a file of a friend with the name of the file then "TS.Xvid.(maVen)-OneCD.avi" so Iam I right in thinking this is an .avi file?

I have managed to get it on to my new dvd writer a LITE-ON Internal 12x Dual Format DVD-ReWriteable Drive #SOHW1213S
and sucessfully write it as a dvd using nero. The new DVD now plays happily on my pc and my laptop, however when I go to watch it on my tv my Sony DVD Dream® Home Theater System -DVD Player Brand/Model: SON DAVFR1 says it can not read it, I am not a tekkie and do not know why this is happening any ideas? is it something I have not done, in the writing process it did not give me an NTSC or Pal option, I know I have had issues with the Sony Home Theatre not playing PAL region dvd which is stupid for a one week old system that cost $500.

Incidentally, If I use avi splitter the sony sytem will play the VCD as long as its in NTSC but I only have a trial version and defeats the object when I have just forked out $100 for the dvd writer....

    All help appreciated.

    Many thanks

It's an XVID, a version of an AVI. You might download TheFilmMachine and see how it works. Good for converting XVID to DVD. You should take the file and put it into a program like AVIcodec. It will tell you what kind of file it is.

After that, read the guides to the left.

you determine if your output will be PAL or NTSC in the encoding stage.

If the DVD plays on your computers, it may or may not be DVD compliant. The other issue is media - perhaps your sony is fussy.
    If in doubt, Google it.
