    I just received my DVR-108 with firmware 1.10 today and was able to burn a Prodisc 8X (media ID=MCC02RG0) [white inkjet printable] at 12X!. Awesome! DVDinfopro reported no errors.

    Ran KProbe and got:
    PI = Max-358, Avg=53.51
    PIF = Max-15, Avg=.28

    Played in all my standalones nicely.

    The Pioneer is a heckuva writer. Love those Prodiscs.

  2. Please-please-please post your scans (cross my fingers hope it was done on a Liteon burner). I have been trying to see one for months and no one has been able to. I am beginning to think that these discs do not really exist. By the way, if you want to see a superb 8X Pioneer scan look here:

    Thanks in advance
    Still a few bugs in the system...

    Sorry about that! My Lite-on is on another PC and I didn't bother with a screencapture. I'll run it again and post it in a few minutes.

    I just received a spindle of 50 of these discs. I have not burnt any yet, and I do not have a Liteon recorder to run Kprobe anyway, but here is what DVDInfoPro shows. Note that there is a 12x write descriptor.

    Okay, 3 strikes and I give up. How do you stick an image in a post?

    Here is a link to the image on one of my sites:

    OK, here's my Kprobe image. Unfortunately, it's not an exact science as I kept getting different readings. Don't know why.

  6. I have read that the 411S has had problems with Kprobe and that may be why you are getting different readings. I will avoid these until I can see a scan on an 812 of an 832. Thanks for all your efforts. It looks like the S04s are gone for a while. I give up; my next purchase next week will be Ritek.
    Still a few bugs in the system...

  7. Your scans are way over the specs so not sure why you're so excited. I would certainly recommend using a lower write speed for those discs.

    scan with kprobe again, but read speed at 1x. it takes a while, but it's consistent. I have the same problem with my 411s.

    I burnt two of these disks today on my new Pioneer 108, one at 12x and another at 8x. I do not have a Liteon recorder to test with, but I do have a Liteon DVD-ROM. Surprisingly, the 8x write was faster than the 12x.

    In this particular scan, the readings were high. In my earlier post, I mentioned that my initial Kprobe scan was:
    PI = Max-358, Avg=53.51
    PIF = Max-15, Avg=.28

    I don't know why my Lite-On drive gives such inconsistent readings.

    Regardless, there were no reported errors nor was there any pixelation on any of my drives when I played the DVD.

    All right, I finally got a Liteon DVD recorder for running Kprobe. Here are two scans of the MCC02RG0 media, both burnt on the Pioneer 108 with firmware 1.10. The first was burnt at 8x (taking 7 mins 28 secs), and the 2nd at 12x (taking 8 mins 15 secs). Yes, the 8x burn took less time, and it scanned better.

  12. These are average scans; what I have come to expect from Prodisc but not from MCC. Too bad they are dropping quality as well. For some truely good scans on an 8X media with a Pioneer 108 look for Ritek G05s.
    Still a few bugs in the system...
