DVD-RW drive stopped reading discs

I was watched Equilibrium on my PC, restarted my computer and now the drive wont read any disc at all. It says that it's empty when it isnt.

I have three partitions, C, D and E, my DVD-RW is my F drive and my CD drive is my G drive.

Recently an H drive has appeared saying it is a DVD drive. It also always says it's empty.

Go into device manager and delete the cd/dvd drives listed. Reboot.

I deleted drives F anf H, restarted, it needed to restart again so i did.

When it came back on they were both back again

i disabled drive H, restarted, the computer wouldnt go on, i had to go in in safe mode and activate it...

Tomorrow i'm going to physically detatch it from my PC and delete all the drivers again...then i'll reattach it as if it was new.

this is pathetic my other topic was closed because its a new problem i have but here it is anyway...

I still havent resolved it but i've been told that what has probably happned is that a program has flashed the drive and now it thinks its a CD drive, so i need to flash it again and get it to be a DVD-RW again.

So please someone can you help me out
