My point exactly. however i sorta figgured it would since i made lite of it. and this also seems to be the forum for the PW to try and reach one bizzilion posts.

Whatever melts one's butter. That's fine. We have the Word Association thread for that. At least that is sorta fun. My gripe is with the frenzy of insane posting threads that we've seen in the last week. It's a circus and it had to stop.

I've locked the most blatant ones, and I had actually locked this one before rereading it and changing my mind.

Im 100% with you on this.. i look at the people that have their names in 10-15 spots as last poster to a thread and think thats just stupid... i guess im too easy going. i know as you are a mod and need to keep the order you would have more reason to be concerned. this has gotten way out of hand.. and something does need to be done. i am totally convinced its all about post count.. if people dont get the hint then maybe its time to take the sugestion of removing the count from the user nic.

that being said.. to me its not a big deal. like i said i dont care. i really do take my own advice and just click through.

It's too easy to blame information for behavior. The post count isn't the issue - every forum has that, at least every forum I've seen. It's only information. How somebody acts on it is their responsibility, not the information itself.

Why let a few children spoil it for all of us? Let them modify their behavior to fit what's acceptable ....and not adjust the framework of the forum to remove the temptation. That's bass-ackwards, in my opinion.

You are right in this area... it was just that there are few things that really grab someones attention in forums, that being one of them. I guess its a moot point now seeing as how the count was removed. Now that that has happend is seems as though this place has really slowed down.

I do have to say that some of it kept me busy while (as i said b4) wasteing time @work. i did find it very funny when one poster that was guilty of PW actually said that he was glad to see it go etc.. i dont want to point my finger but that actually made me laugh..

You mentioned locking this thread. thats fine with me.. i started it as an observation of what was going on and it took over this thread. I am done with this topic so i will not at all be offended if you were to take that action.

I usually don't want to lock a thread unless it's the only way to go. Flame wars often end up locked. If there's the slightest chance a thread has good stuff and will continue to, then I for one would rather see it left open.

But it is usually a tough call when flaming isn't invloved - not always - and a matter of interpretation, so if another mod wants to lock it, that's fine with me. We're not all identical and we all have different "set-points" of where the lines are perceived, and when they're crossed.
