It seems week after week I read about another vunerability in IE6 (e.g., http://www.pcworld.com/howto/article/0,aid,116992,00.asp ).

I'm thinking of switching from IE6 & Outlook to the mozilla suite.

I'm curious what peoples experiences have been using mozilla?

switched when IE got hijacked, and have never gone back. I'm totally addicted to tabbed browsing (4 tabs open right now, and that's light for me), I like the built-in popup blocker, it's highly customizable without doing a bunch of 3rd-party hacks, and when a vunerability is discovered, it takes less than 2 days to get patched, vs. several months with IE... if MS feels like it...

  5. I usually use Firefox, but someone used IE on my account yesterday. When I logged back on to the computer, there was a new IE browser bar, new desktop icons, new favourites, etc. I looked into it and the files showed up at the same time as the cookies did from browsing.

I knew that there were problems with IE, but I thought that the hijack thing was just an excuse not to use IE.

I uninstalled the shortcuts to IE, which is as close as you can get to uninstalling IE on windows XP. (I think)

Even without considering security, Firefox is a fast, coustomizable browser.

When I had Service Pack 1 using Internet Explorer was almost considered a sin. :P Since I've installed Service Pack 2 I went on the hunt for pr0n and warez just to see if I'd get infected. :P If Internet Explorer had tabbed browsing Mozilla Firefox would be off of my machine.

  9. I like it better. I use Mozilla for email and web. Mozilla mail supports IMAP with ssl which is nice. I retrieve all my email via an encrypted channel

I may have to switch to Mozilla again. I use Netscape 7 since it's the same thing except with a Netscape skin. But with version 7.2 they no longer have the location bar search engine options, you can only search through Netscape which is ad supported crap. I always had mine set to search through Google. Does the latest Mozilla still support searching through Google directly?

Im confused about the mozilla/firefox thing because there are two different browsers (?), but the latest version of firefox will let you use google for its search bar.
