    How do stand alone DVD recorders handle VHS tapes that are more than 1 hour long? Can you write to multiple discs or do they compress to fit?

    Most recorders have modes ... 1, 2, 3, 4, 6

    1, 2 generally best,
    3, 4 only on some recorders
    5, 6, 8, 10 never on anything

    Some have FR too, let's you pick your own size

    Do they create a video_ts folder with vobs? It is relatively easy to put the dvd files on a pc and edit them, put in chapter points and so on?
