    I know tmpgenc does this in one package with the ac3 encoder. I was wondering if there is another authoring proggy with a built in ac3 encoder? Thanks

    not sure if there is a one in all out there, but I use Virtualdub to extract the wav from the avi, then FFMpeg to convert to AC3, seems to work perfectly everytime

    Vegas with DVD Architect has a full 5.1EX compliant AC3 encoder. Costs a bit more than VirtualDub etc.
