  1. I captured a TV show taped on VHS to MPEG-2 using Sonic MyDVD. I noticed that the final mpg has a lot of static noise. Is there a way to remove it?

This is what I've done so far:

    - separate the video and audio stream using TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 (m2v and mp2 files)
    - used Audacity to remove the noise, export the result into wav file. Also used lame dll to export to mp3 audio file.

TMPGEnc does not take wav when multiplexing. When I use the mp3 audio file, the resulting mpg does not have sound even though the size seems to include the audio portion.

I also tried to export the mpg to avi and tried to use virtualdub but it does not have audio filter to remove the noise.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

You could use besweet to convert wav to mp2 or mp3 to wav.

  3. Just convert the sound to mp2 and multiplex. Mpeg does not support mp3.
    Happy to be here.

  4. That is not the problem I am having. I already separated the mpg into m2v video and mp2 audio components.

I used Audacity on mp2 audio file to remove the background static noise. Audacity can save the audio file as wav or mp3.

TMPGEnd Plus 2.5 does not accept wav audio when combining the video and audio (multiplexing). Audio in mp3 format will not work either.

Is there a way I can remove the background static noise? Some free software perhaps?

  5. You must encode it to MP2 before muxing it. TMPGEnc can do that too.

  7. OK. I downloaded Besweet and used the wizard mode. But when I click on "GO" nothing happens. I am using the GUI interface.
