  1. Hello.
    Here is my problem:

1-I'am using DVShrink do reduce the size off a movie.
2-It works perfect, the movie is resized, it plays well (no audio out off sync)
3-I want to reauthor it, so I use vobedit (or anu other demux utility) to demux it (it then produces somes files video files, audio files, subtitles files)
4- No the problem, when i put these files on DVDAuthor (or when i play them on any videoplayer) the sound is out off sync (the true is that the video is out off sync, because the sound plays well - full time, but the videos plays must faster -)

Does this happens only with DVShrink or happens with all Transcoderes ? And why is that (tecnologic explanation) ?
Is the a way to solve it ? (reduce de size without audio out off sync) ?

    Thanks
    Julio

I'm not sure how you can blame Shrink for this. You said that after using Shrink, all was well. It was only after demuxing and reauthoring that you lost sync.

To me it looks like a problem with how you demux the files, or wht you do with them during the reauthoring process.

  3. The video plays faster? If you know this for sure and if it is about 4% faster then you must play it wrong. Or remux wrong.
The problem could simply be that you take a PAL video (24 fps) played or remuxed as NTSC (29 fps).

Anyway, as gunslinger says, this is NOT the fault of DVDShrink.

Also may I recommend that you do the re-authoring first (are you maybe adding a subtitle? otherwise why re-author?). Re-authoring may result in a size decrease or increase of your DVD.
If you re-author after shrinking you may end up with less than the DVD5 size (so you shrunk it more than necessary) or with more (so you cannot burn).
    It wasn't me.

  4. Hello

I 'am not sayind that the fault is from DVShrink, i'am not saying that the fault is from any software. What i was asking is if it is true that transcoder utilities (like DVShrink) have that king off side effect when shrinking video files.
The ideia is to build some new menus and DVDs (width some authoring tool, that does not accept VOB Files - like DVD Arquitect) from some VOBs files that i have (like the movie, the making off and a musical video off some kind off ).
To do do this, i first reauthor those files width DVShrink and them demux them (vobedit) to put it in the authoring tool. And here is the problem the video (m2v) is shorter than the audio. For example if the shrinking was 50% then the video is half the time the audio!!!
My doubt is: Is these normal width all Trancoder utilities and if there is a way to solve it

    Thanks

It's easy enough to test. After Shrinking, but before demuxing, play the VOBs. If the audio is in sync, then the transcoding did not effect anything except the size of the files. Now demux. If the two are no longer in sync, the demuxing is the cause, and you need to find a new way of doing it.

I personally have never had a transcoding tool cause this sort of issue. Unless the menus take up a huge amount of space, why bother creating new ones ? Use something like VOBBlanker or DVDRemake to kill the bits you don't want, and shrink what's left. Much less effort.
