  1. What filter chain do I need to play Video-DVD content with DTS audio from Harddisk or DVD via DirectShow? Simply registering the filters from the guliverkli project page (AVI <-> AC3/DTS Filter, DTS/AC3 Source) doesn't work, IVIAUDIO gets always used and produces choppy playback without sound - it seems these filters don't connect with other filters, but files -?

    Hello,

You need a soundcard that specifically states it can play dts surround sound. It's just like home theater receivers. It has to have the special decoder chip to read the dts track.

as far as i know, the Audigy 2 zs is capable of playing dts including dts es (discrete and matrix) channels as well as dolby digital ex. it also has the benefit of playing dvd audio discs (high resolution format)

i currently have a audigy 2 (not zs) and have use its decoder to play ac3 tracks on avi movies using media player classic.

  8. MediaPlayer Classic can play it too, as no doubt other projects that use libDTS - so it's NO HARDWARE MATTER.
What bothers me is that there is no simple DirectShow Filter for ALL DShow-based apps that you just install & play. I have a filter called DTSsource and DTSAC3Source from the guliverkli webpage, but there's no documentation on how to install it and what the requirements are to make it work - ?
I take it this filter also just gets you halfway ready to play, you need one "transport" filter (DTSsource) and a playback-filter (f.ex. InterVideo Audio filter). Just installing DTS[AC3]source via regsvr32 doesn't work, either I need a newer version of Iviaudio or whatever audio filter, or a different OS (XP) or just something else is wrong with my system (I'm using 98 and DirectX9b and have the Nero 6 package installed, which always makes a mess).

I haven't found a standalone version of libDTS, is there one?

  9. @Zuschauer

I thought Gabest created a directshow version of LibDTS a little while back? Did you search the Audio forum of www.Doom9.org or the forums at VideoLAN?

Might want to check up on AC3filter as I know Valex was talking about adding DTS support to that as well. Check this Thread.

I am not an expert on DTS as DTS playback on my computer is not a priority, too big for my Xvids. Plus I have not taken the time to evailuate all the latest revs of filters as I am waitng to do that right before my next clean reinstall (I will do that maybe over Christmas Break as I just got my SP2 CD yesterday).
