  2. I'd rather compress the Video with my own hands then use LSX!

  3. Then what would you use? Specifically, for mini-DV footage that you want to edit and then make a high quality DVD. I am using LSX, and getting decent results, but yesterday my wife brought home a dvd made with iDVD, and looked a good bit better.

  4. Sefy why do you hate LSX sooo Much i like it okay for a decent fast encoder

  5. I hate it cause I used it and my eyes were never the same! i've used ALOT of encoders, starting from Xing, Panasonic, HonesTech and DV and TMPGEnc and CCE, and I don't remember the rest, but unfortunatly I had the misfortune of using LSX, and from all I have used, LSX was the worse.

Now, I wasn't twearking any settings, my test was with each one and their DEFAULT Standard Settings, and LSX simply sucks! there is no way around it, it just sucks.

Having a fast encoding and ending with a file that looks like a DivX going through a garbage disposal just isn't my idea of watching a movie.

kmadel, I prefer TMPGEnc or Panasonic, if you do DVD, I think alot of people would recommand CCE (if you get that damn thing to work!) cause of it's superior SVCD quality and speed

LSX 3.5 give you much better results than earlier version.
    However, LSX suck anyway.

  8. I agree.
    LSX sucks.

TMPGEnc, latest version I think 2.01, is by far the best.
Even better than CCE and Panasonic.

But hey, take a look at http://www.moviejack.com

It's only for PAL DVD's now, until next version begining of next year, then it will support NTSC.

Download the demo and try it. Quality is very close to TMPGEnc.

This program is a one step DVD-to-VCD maker.
    Check it out!.

  9. wildcatfan1978, you propably don't remember the good old days, when XingMPEG was the best encoder in the market, it's still pretty speedy considering it doesn't take advantage of any CPU features.

You may think i've lost credibility, but I always stand by what I say, and Xing looks better then LSX anyday!

  10. Sefy now calm down....I was just playing..... anywho...beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I just feel that LSX actually looks pretty decent BUT I agree it doesn't look good at VCD bitrates. It seems to suck at CBR. I think its VBR is OK (for single pass especially) if the avg bitrate is ~1500+ for svcd.

  11. Don't worry, i'm calm, just a bit of flu fever at the moment gets my temper high, don't take me too seriously, I don't take anything personaly and I trouly hope you don't either, like you said, and I tend to say it myself: Beauty in the eye of the beholder.

I noticed we appear to be answering the same two posts which both involved DVDit, we should merge them into one so not to cause bandwidth problem, and this way both topics can enjoy the help.
