This is a sounbdblaster live, looks like a value version. no matter how I set it, the mic is always recorded when i record, even when I goto recording properties and select wav as source, aux as source, line in as source, mute the mic record tab, slide the bar up and down. No matter what I do it records the mic at a set volume. I tried updating the driver to latest and still doing it.
Whats up?
XP hopme edition.

Goto control panel/sound and audio devices/audio/sound playback/volume/option/properties and check microphone and then click ok and then check mute for microphone in the panel that you see now.

Understand, it is recording the microphone. This is from the recording section not the playback section. (I have also done what you suggested, it is how I always have it set, I dont want to hear my own voice when i speak)

What i told you is the same problem i had with my soundblaster live,if the microphone is enabled in sound playback then you will hear yourself on the mike all the time,if what i told you didnt fix the problem then something is set wrong.
I think,therefore i am a hamster.
