    hey guys,
I have a couple of quick questions for you guys,

can you rip just menus off a dvd, and not anything else? if so, what program is good for that?
also if you can rip the menus off by themselves, can you re-author them? with dvd lab etc?

'cause I have a anime dvd that is part of a box set that the disc has gotten badly scratched and the menus are all screwed up, and I know how to back up the dvd-video and audio, but I don't know about the menus, I want to rip the menus from one of the other dvds in the set, and then re-author them so they work for the episodes that I need them for, and then join the menus and video, audio together to create a backup of the orginial dvd.

    thanks,
    sincerely,

Well if you rip the whole DVD, the following info will help you identify which files contain the Menu. Its information of what the different DVD files are. I got this information from employee of Canopus.

The DVD-Video zone contains all the files necessary for playback of
DVD-Video, and is made up of one Video Manager (VMG) and multiple Video
    Title Sets (VTS).
Each VTS is composed of VTSI (Video Title Set Information), VTSM_VOBS (Video
Object Set for the VTS Menu), VTSTT_VOBS (Video Object Set for Titles in a
    VTS), and the backup VTSI(BUP).
The VTSI is control information for the VTS, and comprises a single file
    named VTS_##_0.IFO.
The VTSM_VOBS contains the content for all types of menus within the VTS,
and comprises a single file named VTS_##_0.VOB.
The VTSTT_VOBS contains the content needed for title playback, and comprises
    multiple files, named VTS_##_#.VOB.
    Note: ## is from 01-99, # is from 1-9.
The VTSI(BUP) is a complete copy of the VTSI, and comprises a single file
    named VTS_##_0.BUP.
VTSM_VOBS may or may not exist, but the other three types of information are
    required.

The VMG is composed of VMGI(Video Manager Information), VMGM_VOBS (Video
Object Set for VMG Menu), and the backup VMGI(BUP).
The VMGI consists of control information for the entire DVD-Video zone, and
comprises a single file named VIDEO_TS.IFO.
The VMGM_VOBS contains the content necessary for the title selection menu,
and comprises a single file named VIDEO_TS.VOB.
The VMGI(BUP) is a complete copy of the VMGI, and comprises a single file
    named VIDEO_TS.BUP.
VMGM_VOB may or may not exist, but the other two types of information are
    required.

The menus are the "0" VOB files...as in....

    VTS_01_0.VOB

This would be the main menu...usually.

DVD Decrypter is the program for that or any other ripping.
