Playing avi files

So is the only other MAJOR .avi audio format that doesn't play [via plugins] on quicktime is .avi files w/WMA audio?

QT also cannot play mpeg files with ac3 audio. avis with wma audio are pretty rare if you ask me.

Also, by default, 3ivx, and DivX installs a folder into your applications folder.... does anyone know if it would be okay to erase or move these folders somewhere else (like the utilities folder) instead?

Yeah that's fine. The only important bit is the file in the library folder. You can delete everything else if you like. I like to keep that sort of thing in my apps folder so I know what software is installed (rename the folder if necessary to include version number).

Yep.

For QT video containers that's probably all you'll need. There's an ogg vorbis QT component about, but video with ogg audio is pretty much always in ogm containers, which QT cant play anyway.
