Writing to DVD using TMPGEnc DVD Author...?

Hello All,

I am evaluating the TMPGEnc DVD Author program and seem to be having problems at the point where I try and write to the media (DVD-RW) when I select my external FW Pioneer A06 DVD burner. The error I get is as follows with the option to send Microsoft a report:

DVD Writing Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I seem to be able to reproduce the problem using either version 1.5 or 1.6 of the program. I have sent TMPGEnc an e-mail for some help several day back but no reply as of yet...

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated as my burner works flawlessly with other programs and this one is very puzzling. Unless I am not doing something right which is always possible! 8)

I often have problems with TMPGEnc's DVD Writing tool, whether it's the same problem you have, or buffer underruns (even though my burner has buffer underrun protection), or an "invalid unit number" error message. I've said the hell with it and just use Nero to do the burns.

If you don't want to pay for another program to do your burning, try IMGtools Classic and DVD Decrypter.

Appreciate the comments and help - Yes, I will probably use another tool to actually butn the video but it would have been nice to be able to do this all from within one application as the product claims to be able to do this!

I've never had a problem with TDA'a burner on my system. I rather like it myself because for some unknown reason it burns my cheapo Princos at 4x when everything else I have burns them at 2x only.

Well, hopefully TMPGEnc will get back to me with some techincal reasons as to why it seems to fail like this as the burner works flawlessly with any other application.
