    MS will probably have an inexpensive (relatively) version that combines product activation and Intel CPU serialization to implement robust DRM so that media companies can feel better about using MS technologies.

    Watch it.

    I still run WinME on one of my machines. It has proven to be every bit as stable as my other machines running Win2000 Pro.

    And my Dell at work runs WinME, and hasn't been reloaded since 2001. No problems there, either.

    Even Compaq doesn't really exist now, it's HP. HP have had a 64bit UX for a while as well, if you have the cash.

  8. Win2K is the same. If you want to add RAM to extend over a gig you have to reinstall the OS.

    Don't mention, that win2k nativelly don't support HDs more than 128GB and you need to apply a patch.
    But how to apply the patch, if you don't have installed the OS?
    So, you end up with 2 HDs: An older ATA less 120GB for OS and a second one for our hobby...

    But: I still prefer W2K over XP. And I won't upgrade to M$. Linux maybe (and if an upgrade became necessary)...

    @JohnnyCNote: Now the bills appeared...
    Our governmant regarding our economical situation as a country, announced few new mezors...
    The salaries are reduce about 20%, all products rise their price about 25% because of new taxes, and today's public retirement system gonna be replaced the next 10 years by a USA type retirement system (private that means...)
    Very bad years are coming...

    I agree with you. Tried XP Home - hopeless then tried XP Pro - better but I still, as do you prefer Win2K.

    I think that's much the same all across Europe, I certainly know here in the UK taxes have gone up horrifically in the last few years. And are likely to continue rising for some time to come.
