  1. I have seven short films arranged as text titles on the Marque template that come with iDVD. The order of the films is the order in which they were loaded into iDVD. Title one is automatically selected when the menu appears, but if I attempt (both on a burned disc and using iDVDs preview player) to select the next title in the list, the highlight skips to film numbr four. If I try to use the left right button, the highlighted film is the fifth or seventh.

The only way I cam play the correct title is to start playing one and then using the chapter button to advance or retreat. Looking at the map of the project, the films are linked in the correct order. I've tried switching templates but the problem persists, even with a plain vanilla non-motion menu. I've never seen this problem before. On the Apple support page, anothr person has had a similar problem.

Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong (other than using iDVD rather than DVDSP)?

  2. I have the same problem with my iDVD. The highlight skips the chapters and I have to use left and right buttons to get the chapters I need.

  3. Have you guys ever trashed your prefs? I recommend doing this... I've noticed when messed up stuff like this happens, trash prefs. Poof, no problem (but keep them in the trashcan and open the app before throwing them away for good! to be careful!) Goodluck!

  4. What do you mean? Pretend that we are novices and explain to us how to do that, please.

  5. I trashed my prefs. Rebuilt the project from scratch. Same result. I think it's a problem — at least for me — with the Marque theme. If I start from scratch with a different theme, I can get normal menu selection. The margue theme is the first I've used that has a pre-roll clip. Perhaps that's somehow related. Perhaps it's only best used with one longer title rather than a bunch of clips.

  6. To trash the pref for iDVD, go to your user directory's Libary. Make sure iDVD is not launced. Inside that folder, open the Preferences folder and look for Apple.com.iDVD.plist. Drag it to the trash and empty the trash. When you launch iDVD next time, new preferences will be created.

Man...actually taking the Marquee theme from iDVD
into DVDSP3, you can re-set the Menu structure so that
you can actually program the left button to be next
and set the target to the track you wish it to be.

    To give you an example,
I used the Marquee template imported into DVDSP3.
I brought in a 2 hour movie, tne added bonus clip
and set a chapter marker for outtakes, which
is part of the main track import.

On the Marquee window itslef, I have PLAY MOVIE,
OUTTAKES and CHAPTER INDEX in that order.
MENU2 is the one where everyone sits in the theater,
and this is my CHAPTER INDEX, with titles for
each of the chapter points, and the ( text) buttons
set to be the Chapter points.
Now, back to main Menu, I set PLAY MOVIE to be
first highlighted, I set _NEXT button to go over to the
right for Chapter Index, I set the _DOWN button to
go to Outtakes, I select the _BACK buton to go to PLAY MOVIE.
I can then further program the UPOs so that
LEFT is _NEXT, RIGHT is _NEXT, UP is _MAIN MENU, and
    DOWN is _NEXT.

If I remember correctly, iDVD will not let you set the
UPOs, they are default set by Apple(?)
I don't know, this is one of the reasons I forced myself
to learn/upgrade to DVDSP2 over iDVD3 many months ago,
for the flexibility of changing stuff.

this may have changed with iDVD4, but I can't say,
as I no longer use iDVD other than to import it's templates
    into DVDSP3.
