PCs have Vegas 5. MACs dont. I like PCs better but I understand if people would rather play with a nice slick toy mac.

I have to admit that our new iMac is one bad-ass looking system. I wish I had a PC with that design.

Technically. But it's like saying "Band Aid brand" vs. "I need a band aid". PC has become synonynous with Intel/AMD based Windows type computers. Just like many people say "I'd like a coke" to mean "I'd like a carbonated water and syrup beverage, not necessarily Coca-Cola."

The funny thing is people consider PC to be 'IBM compatible' (how long since they've been in the game?). Whereas a Mac is a Mac, don't think there IS a 'compatible' anymore; they pretty much squashed that. My biggest gripe with Mac users is that they talk about how everything 'just works.' This may be the case, I've never spent anymore time than I had to on a Mac. But when you compare compatibility, it's like saying 'I bought a Mini and a bought a part for a Mini and it worked fine right out of the box.' Meanwhile, on a PC you're talking about buying a GM part. If you have a GM car, it MAY work for you, but if it's part made for a Land Rover and you want it to work in your Pontiac Sunbird, good luck. I doubt PCs would have nearly as many compatibility problems if Intel designed the PCs AND the OS. They'd also be a lot more expensive (see Apple). When you have one group controlling the bulk of what's available, it's easy to make sure all the pieces fit. How well does OS X run on an AMD processor, or a Cyrix? Not that I'd even WANT to devote an entire summer to this but, at least you can run Linux on a Mac so you're not TOTALLY locked in, but outisde of that the options are few, both hardware and software wise.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

What gets me more is people who use Macs and when put on a PC all they do is complain about how much "easier" it is on a Mac. The other day one was complaining about how if you name a file xxx.jpg.jpg it won't work if the html is set to xxx.jpg.
Another: Macs are better for design. How so? They talk about their Apple Cinema Display or whatever its called being better than a PC. Yet, I come up with better results using a PC with a calibrated monitor. How is a Mac better? His name was MackemX
What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

Jobs and Wozniak missed the boat when they clutched hardware licensing close to their chests and didn't allow third-party licensing way back when. That gave the Intel platform the foothold that they've enjoyed since then.

the thing with mac (yes i've used both a mac and an "ibm compatible" is that I find a mac is much more....flimsy and slow. being skilled in FCP, AVID, and Vegas 5, both FCP and AVID are hardware intensive. I don't think it's possible to run 2 instances of FCP or AVID on a high end mac with out the thing having a shit fit. Vegas 5? I can run four different instances of it on a LOW-END computer with out it shitting bricks.
It seems like whatever mac does, it's a step below PC. I've also converted many people by showing them how much easier it is to do things on a PC...like Vegas 5, DVD Shrink, doing simple things like seeing how much hard disc space is left. Macs are flawed. Simple as that. I'd use it for a door stop or to put under the leg of a table if it was unbalanced, but for video production, software programming, graphic/web design, and gaming i'll be super happy with my IBM compatible.
