Hi,
Has anyone done work on TMPGENC quantization matrices? I have done a lot of reading recently on these, and absorbed much of the theory behind them.
I know TMPGENC comes with the standard MPEG group recommended matrix, plus TMPGENC custom matrix, and one for animation. Also, I have seen the KVCD alternate matrix.
I guess my question is are there other alternatives? Quantization matrix, according to spec, can be altered throughout the length of a video, so I would like to customize the matrix based on the type of video content to really get the best quality. I'm willing to put the time in to adjust this based on the clip at hand. Are there any tools to test alternate matrixes and compare the results?
Any thoughts? It's an interesting subject.
Josh
