On another note, I'm probably the only thirteen year old who can honestly say he owns an atari 2600 and plays it from time to time.

    Hello,

Who's a puppet?? Oh, maybe the REAL Yoda is (actually, he's digital now!)

I'm glad you're into retro gaming. I'm 26 and love the old stuff. My brother in law is gonna get me his old 8bit nintendo in a couple weeks. I never should have given mine up. I might also pick up a Super nintendo again if I can find one cheap enough.

  5. I never really got into the whole "graphics over gameplay" thing, so I spend a good portion of my time playing older games, usually through emulators(I have a laptop. Portable gaming without excessive modding to consoles gooooooooood.....) since I'm too lazy to get everything running(namely digging out a controller, picking out a game, finding the plugs, setting it all up, realligning my tv with the current position of the moon and saturn in relation to eachother, hitting the power switch, not having the game work, blowing into it fifty times, trying again and getting garbled graphics, pulling the cart out slightly, gettin' closer, push it to the left, BINGO!, play for five minutes before gravity leave it in a garbled state again.) each time I want to play, and have some USB controllers built into the cases of old game controllers(Or do they use a modified version of the original controller board...I forget.) to use anyways.

I still need to get a playstation one, though...

  7. I've been gaming for a good ten years now, and I've probably played a grwater variety of games than most eighteen year olds. I've played everything from pokemon stadium to chronicles of riddick: escape from butcher bay(do you have any idea how satisfying it is to sneak up behind a guard while he's trying to shoot ya and bust his neck, all while the wall next to you has "You've got no fuckin' chance to live! You gonna die here!" written on it?) and then some. my personal favorite are shooters, whether they be third or third person, stealth of action, or a mix, I love 'em.

  9. no, no I have not. One, no reset button. Two, no ammo counter. Three, the AI's too good and there's no easy mode.

You know what's even more fun in COR? Stab a guy with a knife and he leans back from the hit, right? Well, the stab's fast enough that you can get him again right when he recovers. It's really fun to stab him again and again and again. It's like playing some kind of sadistic ping pong!

Mmm....sadistic ping pong(no, I would never kill a person. On the other hand, I'm not above screwing his face up if he starts it. I just won't kill him.)

My comments were tongue in cheek. I think it's bullshit whenever the moral majority or some other minority (small in number) group tries to blame society's ills on games, movies and music. It's a cop-out.

I heard that murder used to happen even before video games and movies. But I can't imagine why.

  18. Further proof that there's no point around here.

So, anybody else go for the necksnaps in games like splinter cell and chronicles of riddick?

Splinter Cell is a great game. Love the neck snaps...I snap em' all

Very true words cap. Blame the games, blame the music, blame everything except sad ass parenting. To many parents let kids raise themselves. The problem is that when I was a teenager we still had "taboo" subjects. Kids today have no taboo subjects. There is a school in our state, where it is commonly known that this certain school's female population is heavy into anal sex. Their rationale is that they want to remain virgins and want to eliminate the threat of pregnancy This school is better than 100 miles from where I live and I don't know anyone who works or goes to school there...but I know that interesting little fact. I mean seriously...WTF????

As adults we cannot understand this behavior because at that age we all had fears. For some of us it was the fear of VD, for others it was AIDS. I was coming up after the VD epidemic and I did not fear it. Today's kids are much the same. The threat of AIDS has been a constant in their world.

Now I know I related this in a sex topic but it is the same for violence and other behaviors. Parents are quick to blame everyone else except their kid. I've had parents get me called on the carpet because their daughter cheated on a test, I gave her a zero, she admitted she cheated, but her parents thought I should give her another chance. I ended up giving her another chance because I had too...but I just deducted the points from other assignments so she still got a zero, no one knows what I put in the gradebook except me...that's the kind of illogical reasoning skills some parents have. The kids have no consiquences for their actions. I know when I was in school, if I got in trouble, I didn't worry about what the school was going to do to me...I had to go home...and what my parents were going to do to me was going to be much more severe....it's not like that now. Kids go home and the first thing that happens is the parents call the school or other kid's parents wanting to know what you did to make their kid act like that. Some how they just can't accept the fact that maybe their son or daughter got exactly what they deserved.

Attention youth of America...the laws may protect you while you are under the age of 18...but you better recognize that one day you will turn 18 one day and when that day comes, you can have your head bounced off the sidewalk just like everyone else in america and there won't be any pricipals or teachers there to break it up. Letting your mouth write checks your ass can't cash has reprecussions in adult society.

I see it everyday...sorry for the rant, just happened to hit home for me...seems I have "Billy Bad Ass" in my 5th period class this year. I haven't spoken to him about it yet, but friend or foe will be his choice...I don't think he wants me as an enemy...I sure hope he chooses wisely.

Bravo Northcat! I agree completely. Even when I was in highschool in the early 90's it was getting bad. I mean when they start letting anything happen it can get ugly.

Every year they tell us in our meetings that the kids aren't changing

Kind of makes you wonder what part of "Never never land" they are working in on a daily basis.
