  1. Hi everyone
I'm having problems with my WINME system, and so 'll format the hard drive and reinstall everything..., but:

Should I install WIN98 or WINME?

I mean, in order to have all the programs related to VCD creation running smoothly in my computer.

Here some info regarding my computer:

    It's a Pentium 4 Intel 1.5 Ghz.
    256 RAM
    Plextor CD Recorder 12/10/32A
    ASUS motherdboard for pentium 4
STUDIO DC 10 plus capture board.

I usually use TMPGEnc, VirtualDub & Nero. Wasn't able to install WINONCD. I think it won't run under WINME, so here I have a good reason to install WIN 98.... but need an experts opinion though.

OK...., just name it, WIN 98 or WIN ME?
    PLEASE HELP.
    Thanks so much

PS: sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum..., couldn't decide which one would be the correct place to post it.

  2. WinME is a terrible os, it's a bug warehouse and takes a step back in stability. I would definitly go win Win98 but if you really want some stability go with winxp or winnt but not win2k (there have been some problems).

Bummer. Why not try to "downgrade" to 98? Give Dell back ME (say it is really buggy and you are very dissatisfied with the product), then ask if you could get a copy of Win98 (or even better, 2000 or XP). Just kick up a big fuss and complain, Dell pride themselves on good customer care. If all else fails, then threaten to return your PC (its a laptop isnt it?) under their "customer satifaction guarantee" (or whatever BS they call it), I am sure that they will be very accomodating then.
