  1. Hi Guys,

I have a couple of .avi files which i wanna convert into Mpegs using TMPGEnc. The video files have VBR audio and since TMPGEnc doesnt handle VBR audio, i have to extract the audio as uncompressed wav.

I did as mentioned by many here and using Virtual Dub-->Audio-->Full Preocessing Mode tried to extract the audio. But when i try to save the file, it gives me an error "Please check if you have the required codecs". I have Lame mp3 ACM Codecs installed(v3.96.1).

Can anyone please help me on what codecs i am missing out on?

    Thanx,
    Avinash

If the audio is ac3 then you need ac3 acm decompressor installed.

  3. no...the audio is not ac3 mate. but however i do have the ac3 acm decompressor installed already.

when i extract the audio as direct stream copy, i cant play it in winamp also. it says instal mp3 acm codec.!!! i do have it installed.

will it make a differnce if i instal lthe fraunhofer codec?

  5. thnx dude for the reply.

i installed the fraunhofer codec and now it recognises the compression format as Fraunhofer IIS Mpeg Layer - III and i am able to extract the audio. But the wav file extracted has a 'hiss' sound in the background. is it bcos of the codec? why is it tht even tho i have Lame mp3 codec installed it doesnt recognise the format eventho i heard tht lame is a better codec than fraunhofer.

Will try out with Besweet also.
