No, actually I hadn't remembered that. I mention it because I'm mildly lactose intolerant.

I used to think it was just the beef here in NM. My wife would make a beef roast, I'd chow down, and 20 minutes later, go upstairs, sit down and explode.

Whenever I went to Kansas City on business I never had a problem with their beef. Then I'd come home and it'd start all over.

But then it started with the chicken too. I got suspicious. It was cooked well-done, but it bothered me.

Then I figured it out about 2 months ago or so. I drank whole milk at home, but beer on the road with my meal. It's more of a problem with milk than cheese. Good thing because I can easily do without milk, but not cheese. I love cheese.

So now I drink diet Pepsi with supper (I hate sugared pop except 7-Up), and I've been happy as a two-peckered dog since because I can sit down after dinner without my abdomen rumbling. I know there is OTC medication for it, but I'd rather not take pills if I don't have to.

gook used to be pan fried sausages with melted cheese
but now refers to any leftovers from lastnight, pan
    fried with cheese.

I have not had gook for years but the last I did
have was leftover fish'n'chips panned fried
    with cheese.

About twice a year I sit down to a nice English
    fryup.

    Hmmmm... pass the bacon butties

Could be the type of milk you are drinking. Some say that the
milk from Fresian cows is poisonous to humans causing
not just stomach and bowl upsets, but arthritis and more
    serious diseases.

So called A2 milk from specially-bred Jersey cows instead of the Fresians found on most dairy farms, is supposed to be safe and symptom free.

    I haven't heard about that.

I don't miss milk much, and I'm better off without all the fat in whole milk. And I get my calcium from OJ which I like better than milk.

Still, a bowl of Grape Nuts isn't the same with orange juice instead of milk

Hmmm ...thanks. I'll do that. I don't have cereal a lot, but once in a while it's nice as a midnight snack. Worth a try.

I used to make my "toxic waste omelette" occasionally:

Start with a med. bowl - crack 4 or 5 eggs and a little milk. Mix with a fork. Then add:

    garlic powder
    garlic salt
    minced onions
    green peppers
    barbecue sauce
bits of any breakfast meat you might have - the best is chorizo. (Oh, and be generous with this ingredient)
    pepper
    tabasco sauce to taste

Pour into a skillet and heat with a med. flame. While it's heating, tear off some cheddar or jack cheese and lay the strips onto the mixture.

Heat until it's almost solid and the cheese is melted. Fold over and let stand with no flame until you can make your toast.

ENJOY! That'll be with you all day

I tried soy milk earlier this month. Big mistake (for me anyway). I opted for chocolate. I got a 1/2 gallon as they were on sale. Drank some, hmmm not bad, tastes just as good as some of the chocolate milk they sell at the store.
THEN 20 min later I was sick to my stomach. I hadn't eaten anything else with it, so I knew it was the soy milk. Told myself that maybe it was just a fluke and tried some more a couple hours later. Again, good goin down, but not so good comin back up again.
    Your results may vary.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't food poisoning. My body was just like 'WTf is this CRAP? Where's the real stuff.' I've never had poisoning and there's not much foodwise I won't eat.

I don't drink whole milk. My wife likes skim, but it goes through me like western beef products. I would normally drink 2% which only gives me a moderate stomach ache and problems, but I don't drink that much milk anyway. We came to a compromise of 1% milk, though I drink 1/2cup out of every gallon we buy at the most. I too can't go without cheese, but it gets me going something fierce in the bowels, along with ice cream too. However, Klondike Bars and Haagen Das are just something I can't live without. I told my wife, "I can deal with the pain, cause it's all worth it!"

For the Brits/Aussies: I found a spotted dick recipe and I'm going to give it a go tomorrow and see how well it turns out. Who has a good recipe for bangers?

I just always called that mixed vegetables. I fry it the second time anyway because it adds to the flavor of broccolli. I'l throw in diced chicken chunks once in a while too.
