DV is 13 GB per hour, so 26 GB required.

Would it be a lot better if I used a 10,000 RPM hard dirve then a 7200 RPM drive? Or does it really matter?

DV is ~3.7 Mb/sec
A 4200rpm (laptop) drive is sufficent for DV transfers. Any drive these days with the capacity to handle 2 hours of DV will "transfer" via your firewire with no difficulity.

Don't forget though, if you are planning on editing these videos, you will need to have enough space for the 2 hour DV file, plus the 2 hour exported file, plus enough free room for the swap file. Which means you'd need AT LEAST 60gb of free space.
