I have 2 avi's that i am looking to make into dvd's.
My avi's before encoding have the following specs according to avicodec.
video 482mb, 938kbps, 23.976fps, 640*272(2.21:1), Xvid=xvid mpeg 4 supported.
audio 219mb. 448kbps, 48000hz, 5 channels, 0x2000 = ac3 dvm, supported.
before i encode the files to dvd, or merge them into 1 file they have sound that plays fine, the video is fine etc. but after i run one file through tmpgenc using the wizard, choosing dvd- ntsc 16:9, using the cbr mpeg layer 2 audio, video type i choose interlace, altho non-interlace is there when i open my file, bottom field first, which changes to top field after i select my file, but i change it back to bottom field, aspect weas left alone at vga 1:1, in other settings under the video tab the only thing i change is the bitrate from 8000 to 2130 "using one of the guides from here following it as they show to do"
Well after i wait out the few hours of encoding, when i open the new file i have no audio in the clips what so ever, i know its somewhere in the conversion but im clueless.
Please help me, or point me to a better howto guide that will still allow me to use tmpgenc.
thanks

extract the ac3 from the video and use it in the dvd,
https://www.videohelp.com/forum/userguides/186739.php#2
and you don't have to reconvert the video again, just add the video in tmpgenc dvd author and then choose the ac3 as the audio. -
Your better off separating the video and audio in virtualdubmod, and then encode the video by itself. If you use vdubmod to extract the audio, and the audio is in ac3 format, you need to use ac3fix to fix it up.
Once your video is converted using tmpgenc, you can use tmpgenc tools (file->mpeg tools), and go to simple muliplex, and you can join your audio, and video files together, so they are one again.
