  1. Hi,

I am quite experienced at converting avi to svcd, but i have always had to deal with complications due to foolishly installing a codec pack.

The problems caused by codec conflicts recently proved too much and i have reinstalled xp on my computer.

    So...

now i have a clean computer. I use tmpgenc to convert avi to svcd.

What are the bare essentiaL codecs i need to install to create good quality svcds from various avis?

if at all possible i would love to avoid the infuriating jerky playback that tmpgenc often provides.

will ffdshow do the job well for everything other than xvid?

if not, which version(s) of divx is my best bet?

Many thanks for anyone's help on this - i really want to do it right this time and a) not crap my computer up
    and
    b) have GREAT quality svcds.

    many thanks,

    Kian

Use Gspot to test your files and install only the codecs that you need.
