I can't open a file in virtualdub. It says "error decompressing frame 0" and it says that for every frame. I know the file is ok because it plays in VideoLan player. I've tried using avisynth but it says the same thing.

  2. sounds like you are missing a codec. What does gspot tell you about the file.

    Gspot says:
    Codec: Xvid
    Bitrate: 1600
    FPS: 25

    audio
    codec: ac3 stereo
    bitrate 192 CBR

I've tried to reinstall the codec and it still does not work

Could it be I have to many installed? gspot says I have 61 video codecs

  4. Its just that your Xvid is a directshow (decoder only) i think, and virtualdub cant use directshow codecs. Get the newest build from koepi, you'll find it in www.videohelp.com/tools.

  5. In vdub when you select video and then compression does it show xvid as one of your codecs. Like thor300 says ffdshow will decode xvid for playing but virtualdub cant use it. Download and install either koepis or nics xvid build.
