  1. I installed WDM drivers which I later found out only work with NTSC
as im in the uk using PAL I have endless problems with various programs now refusing to operate in PAL and tryign to operate in NTSC
IS there a way I can completely get rid of the WDM drivers?
ive tried the HCMclear.exe and that did not work
i downloaded the wdm drivers from cinedvr website (i think)so they're not made by hauppauge
Can anyone help ive had this problem forever!

I just had exactly the same problem.
Remove the Hauppage entry in your device manager then
    reinstall the VFW driver.
I had to do this a few times before it worked.

Drivers may have been written for NTSC card/tuners. Send me all "inf" files of the driver and I may give you any tips.
You may also try this driver

    http://sourceforge.net/projects/btwincap

But you will need to disassemble your PC and get exact model# and tuner brand/model.

  4. Hi
Sorry I only just saw ur replys
I tried uninstalling the card and reinstalling the divers a few times but still no luck
    im using win2k
in the device manager > sounds, vide & games controller > Legacy video capture devices
It says I have Hauppauge WinTv video capture Driver and WDM windows Video capture Driver (win32)
Now I coudl swear Id removed this but it seems not
Ive tried uninstalling it from here but it wont let me If i click remove it looks like it has but if i look at the legacy video capture devices properties again its back like The Terminator or something!

    Here a Tip.
Try doing clean install and ONLY use the WDM drivers.
You know it funny most of the user I have seen only audio problem with the WDM drivers.
NO mgruber the drivers where not written for just NTSC card/tuners.
Make use you using the latest drivers.
The drivers off this page will working in the fellowing OS Win98SE/ME/2000/XP
    http://www.hauppauge.com/xp/software/xp_wintvpci.htm
The date showing (Updated November 5, 2001) is wrong any way they forgot to update the date so don't worry about it.
WinTV2000 this is the latest ftp://167.206.143.11:21/Latest/WinXP/Beta/3_37_19319_Wintv2K.EXE

  6. ok i just clean installed those wdm drivers u mentioned
    not the beta one though

This has introduced bizarre probelms in that now only the wintv2000 app is able to tune into any channels

oh and u cant use vdub to capture in wdm wihtout a wrapper
so how do i safely get rid of these wdm drivers (in win2k)so they r comletely uuninstalled which was my main objective?

You don't need the WDM wrapper
Start VirtualDub File | Capture AVI | Video | Soure then set it up.

  8. SHS, I have the latest drivers for Win2k, though it says in device manager that's it's a VFW driver (v 3.11), Now I don't mind this as I can catch with vdub, are you saying that the WDM version will also allow me to catch with vdub ??

I'm running a WinTV PVR btw

  11. When I open up vdub capture the channel is never tuned in
This is after just opening and closing wintv to tune into a channel
So then I clicked source and a new window pops up and theres an option for tuning so I tell it to auto scan
I can see it skim past maybe 1 channel but it does not stop it just carries on finds no more channels then gives up
How do I get the tuning to work properly?
