  1. Hi
I have a avi/xvid clip which goes out of sync after converted to vcd, this is done the usual way : seperating audio(wave) then using the wave as audio source in tmpgenc bla bla. i check to see weather the original file was out of synch and it wasnt but when i did "scan video stream for errors" in VDUB 1.510, after the check, right at the bottom it said "267 frames masked (1 frames bad, 266 frames good but undecodable) what does this mean and hw can i fix it.

You should do a small test for a/v sync before fully encoding.

TMPGEnc > setting > advanced > source range

set start frame - (then about 10 seconds on ) set end frame

keep testing/adjusting audio gap as you go until you get perfect sync.
Once you have it you're then ready for the full encode - re-adjust start frame/end frame for full movie length and away you go.

    hw can i fix it.
By removing the offending part of the AVI. But I wouldn't bet on it - I've tried working with and fixing bad AVIs but have given up - It's simply not worth the trouble if the AVI isn't something very special IMHO.

  5. I've only had 1 AVI where bad frames knocked the audio out of sync. Here's what I did...

Encode the Video as Normal, Ignore the bad frames. Convert the Audio to .WAV fromat and load it into an Audio Editor (Goldwave is good). Find the exact place in the audio file where the bad frames are, and insert enough silence to make the audio and video files, EXACLY the same length.

I may have just got lucky, but that worked for me...
