  1. So a couple of the PAL discs (one anamorphic, one not) I played on my Apex AD-1100W are stretching the horizontal image (on my NTSC set) a bit or making the vertical only smaller. So what I'm getting is an actor's head that looks a LITTLE wider than it otherwise should.

Up to this point, my 1100W has been everything and more, but this is a prob. Thinking about getting a newer player that does better PAL to NTSC conversion. Are there any that do this as well as my PC or well enough that I won't notice on my set? Again, the image is perfectly resized on my PC.

Otherwise, is there a way to convert the disc to NTSC via software?

    Thanks for all your help.

I think the CYBERHOME 300 does better PAL playing. My APEX 1100W is now a paperweight in the office, laser is about dead.

The best player to date for PAL has got to be the LiteOn 5001 recorder. Even if I never used it to burn, it's been an EXCELLENT player. I use it for watching all my PAL discs (also has region-free option). The JVC is good at this too.

The LiteOn plays interlace with almost no flicker. Progressive with almost no jerking. AR is maintained pretty well. Not bad cropping (ala Apex). Audio is great, even MP2. Works well with oddball stuff like interlaced 352x288. Again, pretty flicker-free.
