  1. Hi, I just downloaded the newest version of tmpeg and I notcied that aside from it's usual vcd/svcd formats,
    thier are new illegal vcd formats that you can use to encode? what the difference?
    can some one help me out?

  2. Well, you're only gotta get yourself in trouble with these illegal formats. Basically what they do is use your phone line (or even mobile phone if it's close enough) to alert the police, FBI and RIIA (in this order) if you're playing copyright-protected material. Before you know it you will have some guy reading you your rights (which are far less nowadays than they used to be) and then you'll have a good cop and a bad cop questioning you downtown...

    Hahaha! Sorry, couldn't resist!

    Seriously now, these formats are known as xVCD and XSVCD. Take a look at "What is X(S)VCD" on the left side to see more about them.
